Plastic
One of the greatest findings of our century. Plastics have become a part of our household. We cannot think of any one item in our home without any plastic. It forms much for our food package and groceries.
There are several plastics that around the market. To name a few:
- Microwavable vs Non Microwavable Plastic
- BPA Free plastic and Non-BPA.
- Recyclable Plastic and Non-Recyclable plastic.
One of the main reason for us to use the plastics are due to its light weight, durability and easy to use.
The term "plastic" derives from the Greek "plastikos," meaning fit for molding, and "plastos," meaning molded. In line with this root etymology, and in the broadest sense, a plastic is a material that at some stage in its manufacture is able to be shaped by flow such that it can be extruded, molded, cast, spun, or applied as a coating
We find it's easier to use the plastic as it comes as a disposable items, whether it be a grocery bad or spoons or plastic plates or anything to be used for one time.
Plastics were invented to be used for making any items to our desired shapes (like tv panels, teeth casting, dolls etc.). With the invention of plastics many consumer manufacturers started to create many items with different shapes that would attract consumers.
If we really put a deep thought, we know that, every item we consume day to day is in a plastic containers. To name a few :
- Water Filters
- Soda
- Drinking Water
- Caps for any containers
- Hot cases
- Water Bottles
In some countries the water is sent using the PVC wipes. PVS is another type of plastic.
With so much dominance plastic has in our life, is this a right time to re think about using plastics in our day to day. Is it really necessary to use plastics.
Is it impossible to think to eliminate plastics from our life.
WHY PLASTIC IS HARMFUL?
Keep thinking about it till the next post about it.
Until then
